How to clean suede and nubuck sneakers

Wondering how to clean your Yeezy 500 or any other suede/nubuck sneaker? This easy to follow step-by-step suede/nubuck sneaker cleaning tutorial will help you to extend the life of your favourite sneakers.

Do not use too much water while cleaning suede or nubuck sneakers.
Ensure any excess water has been shaken off the brush before you begin cleaning. Take extra care if cleaning dyed suede as the colour is likeky to run. 
For some types of nubuck or suede, you may want to use our Premium Brush as it will prevent any damages to the material. 

Remember to always test the product on a small area first.

How to clean suede and nubuck sneakers

  • Take off the laces and immerse them in a bowl of hot water with a rational amount of our cleaning solution. Then wash them by hand as if you were soaping your hands.
  • Remove excess dirt by dry brushing the sneakers and clapping the soles together.
  • Spray a generous amount of our cleaning solution on the sneakers. Let it rest for a while (1 to 20 min). Our cleaning solution will start dissolving the stains.
  • Dip the brush into a bowl of clear warm water. Brush the sneaker in straight motion. Do not apply too much pressure to avoid damaging the suede/nubuck. Let the bristles of the brush do the job.
  • Wipe clean with the microfiber towel.
  • Leave to dry. Then, gently brush the nubuck/suede in one direction to restore the nap.⁣⁣
  • Repeat steps 3 to 6 if needed.

Cleaning tips for suede and nubuck sneakers

  • Put your hand, a shoe tree or a cloth in the sneaker. This will stretch the sneaker so you can reach every area during the cleaning process.
  • Use our Microfiber Cloth to clean the remaining stains with the help of your index finger by applying enough pressure.
  • Put a cloth, a shoe tree or a newspaper to keep the shape of your sneakers while drying.
  • Air dry the sneakers. Keep them away from heat sources.
  • When cleaning suede and nubuck, wet the entire shoes in order to avoid any colour difference.⁣⁣
